Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Health Risk Assessment Specialist to shape environmental risk management across Canada. You will lead on human health and ecological risk assessments, translate scientific evidence into practical strategies, and mentor professionals within a nationally connected practice.

You will serve as a trusted client advisor, direct multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to growth of WSP's Environmental Risk Assessment practice. Travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Toxicology, Environmental Science, Environmental Health or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in human health and ecological risk assessments.
• Familiarity with Canadian federal and provincial risk assessment frameworks and regulatory processes.
• Strong knowledge of toxicology, exposure modelling, fate and transport concepts, and environmental health science.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects, budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.

• Lead human health risk assessments, ecological risk assessments, exposure assessments, and related environmental health studies that inform confident project decisions.
• Deliver senior technical direction in toxicology, exposure assessment, risk characterization, and regulatory interpretation for complex work across Canada.

The Skills That Set You Apart

• A bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in Toxicology, Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Public Health, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Extensive progressive experience conducting and leading human health and ecological risk assessments in environmental consulting, industry, or government.
• Demonstrated expertise in Canadian federal and provincial risk assessment frameworks, technical guidance, and regulatory processes.
• Advanced knowledge of toxicology, exposure modelling, fate and transport concepts, risk characterization, and environmental health science.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects, budgets, schedules, quality reviews, and multidisciplinary teams toward defensible outcomes.
• Strong technical writing and review capability, including authorship of senior‑level risk assessment reports and clear communication of complex findings.
• Experience building client relationships, developing proposals, supporting strategic planning, and pursuing opportunities that grow technical services.
• A valid driver's licence and the ability to travel periodically to client sites and project locations.
