Job summary

Aversan Inc. in Ottawa, ON is seeking a Senior Hardware Compliance Engineer to lead EMI/EMC efforts for avionics products. The role requires hands-on lab testing, risk assessment, and coordination with external labs to ensure compliance with applicable standards.

You will work closely with design teams to optimize grounding, signal filtering, and chassis features for best EMI/EMC performance across Industrial, MIL, and Aerospace electronics. On-site position supporting critical safety systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong experience in hardware compliance, EMI/EMC testing, and hands-on lab testing for products meeting standards in Industrial, MIL, or Aerospace electronic design.
• Works with design teams to optimize EMI/EMC performance (filtering, grounding, chassis features).
• Familiarity with EMI/DO-160, MIL-STD-461, and related industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Become a key contributing member of the design team to meet EMI/EMC goals on avionics products.
• Analyze requirements, provide compliance review and identify risk.
• Establish internal lab capabilities to de-risk designs for formal compliance testing.
• Perform de-risking activities, may be internal or offsite.
• Coordinate and witness formal compliance activities, typically at external offsite laboratories.
• Provide input to design and reviews in support of successful compliance.
• Generate reports to capture tests performed and summarize results.
• Participate in maintaining a positive and productive atmosphere within the team.

• Laboratory Equipment: Spectrum Analyzers, LISN, Oscilloscopes, Antennas, Power Supplies
• Cable design and assembly techniques for EMI/C
