Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Geotechnical and Geohazards Engineer to join our Canada GeoTech West team in Calgary or Burnaby. You will lead complex geotechnical analyses, landslide hazard assessments, and debris flow mitigation while collaborating with multidisciplinary professionals.

Qualifications include advanced expertise in debris flows, geotechnical modeling, and strong communications. Travel to field sites and client engagement are integral to delivering safe, resilient infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Advanced debris flows expertise; graduate degree preferred.
• Masters degree in engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, or related field required/preferred.
• Registered or eligible to register as a P.Eng in Alberta and/or British Columbia; US PE considered a plus.
• Experience with geohazards models; familiarity with RAAMS, HEC-RAS, FLO2D or similar tools is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Strategy: identify and prioritize key clients and growth opportunities across North America.
• MBD & Sales: win major projects; represent Stantec as SME and grow debris flow mitigation opportunities.
• Client and Account Management: develop and maintain strong client relationships and portfolios.
• Team Development: mentor junior staff and collaborate with experienced colleagues to provide best-in-class solutions.
• Technical Delivery: model landslides, debris flows, and other hazards; oversee model use and accuracy.
• Mitigation analysis and design: lead debris flow mitigation initiatives and risk assessments.
• Field data collection: plan and lead field crews; ensure data quality and safety.
• Reporting: write reports with clear limitations and assumptions; manage budgets and schedules.
