Job summary

Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB) is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Fredericton team on local and international mining projects. You will contribute to planning, investigation, design, and construction of tailings facilities and water dams, with opportunities to specialize or lead across dam engineering scopes.

The role emphasizes collaboration, technical excellence, and client-focused solutions, with potential for career development in design, project management, or hands-on dam

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or higher in civil or geotechnical engineering.
  • Minimum 12+ years of relevant civil/geotechnical experience.
  • Eligible to register as P.Eng in Canada.
  • Proficiency with geotechnical software PLAXIS, FLAC, SLOPE/W.
  • Knowledge of mining regulations and industry best practices.
  • Strong report writing and English communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Design tailings storage facilities for mining projects.
  • Participate in dam safety inspections and reviews.
  • Mentor junior staff on TSF design methodologies.
  • Act as senior technical resource for mine waste projects.
  • Build client rapport from feasibility to project completion.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines for integrated solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and project documentation.
  • Attend conferences and trainings to expand knowledge.

The Opportunity:

Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB) is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Fredericton, N.B to work on local and international mining and resource projects. Your experience will be applied to the planning, investigation, assessment, design and construction of tailings and water dams and waste storage for mining clients. Career development can be managed to support personal preferences such as niche, technical design specialists, or project participation in both technical dam engineering scopes and project management, or all-round dam engineering specialists, such as the responsible persons or Engineers of Record.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Design tailing storage facilities for global mining projects
  • Participate in dam safety inspections, dam safety reviews, and the development of dam safety systems
  • Guide, mentor, and train more junior staff through the methodologies of TSF design solutions
  • Act as senior technical resource within your project team(s) for the delivery of mine waste projects
  • Build client rapport as projects progress from feasibility through to mine closure
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to develop well rounded solutions for clients
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and other project specific documentation
  • Expand your knowledge by attending conferences and trainings
What We Require:
  • A degree in civil or geotechnical engineering: a master's degree is considered an asset
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in civil or geotechnical related projects (preferably for mining or related industries), with a track record of continued development
  • You must be eligible to register as professional engineer (P.Eng) in Canada
  • Working knowledge of geotechnical software packages including PLAXIS, FLAC, and SLOPE/W
  • General understanding of mining-related regulations and industry best practices
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills, with demonstrated report writing skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
