Job summary

Stantec seeks a Senior Geochemist to join our Environmental Services team, focusing on mine water quality and geochemistry. The role is ideally located in Victoria, Sidney, Burnaby, or Markham/Waterloo, with relocation assistance possible.

You'll drive field programs, regulatory tasks, and impact assessments for mining projects while mentoring junior staff. The successful candidate will apply deep geochemistry expertise, lead cross-disciplinary teams, and expand client relationships across

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of water quality guidelines and permitting for mining in BC and Yukon.
• Willingness to travel to lead field crews and meet clients/regulators.
• Experience in project-task management.
• Ability to analyze field and technical data; problem solving.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office; data analysis and visualization.
• Knowledge of water chemistry and contaminant transport modeling software (Goldsim, PHREEQC, Minteq, MIN3P), Excel, databases.
• Experience preparing environmental assessments/impact statements.

Responsibilities

• Support geochemical and water quality components of projects.
• Lead health and safety culture within the program.
• Collaborate on baseline studies, assessments, modeling, monitoring.
• Advise engineering teams on mine planning and mitigation strategies.
• Lead multi-discipline teams on water-related mining projects.
• Provide data analysis and QA/QC of technical reports.
• Conduct fieldwork and assist in proposals and project management.
