Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain month end, quarter end, and year end closing entries and reconciliations for various global entities.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly management/departmental reports.
• Assist in external and internal audit processes and annual tax returns.
• Prepare/oversee monthly filings including HST, regulatory and other business compliance filings.
• Liaise with other departments to ensure timely and accurate financial results.
• Continuously improve accounting processes and support ad-hoc finance projects.

Summary/Objective

Reporting to the GL Manager, this position performs professional accounting work involving compilation, consolidation, and analysis of financial data. May include any, or all of, the following: ledgers and preparation of journal entries; fixed asset or inventory accounting; preparation of trial balance or financial statements; cost accounting; bank account reconciliation. Has a good knowledge of the organization's existing systems and the ability to handle most regular issues independently.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and maintain the month end, quarter end and year end closing entries and account reconciliations for various global entities
• Assist in the preparation of monthly management/departmental reports as required
• Assist in the external and internal audit process and annual tax returns
• Prepare/oversee various monthly filings including HST, regulatory and other business compliance filings
• Liaison with other departments across the company to ensure timely and accurate financial results
• Continuously improve operational and financial accounting processes and challenge status quo
• Support the finance team on various ad-hoc projects

Skills and Qualifications

Strong technical knowledge of ASPE and IFRS. Must be able to work effectively in a team-based collaborative environment. Demonstrates ownership of assigned responsibilities with a positive self-starter attitude. Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Able to work independently with minimal direction but also recognizes when to ask for direction when needed. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail

Required Education and Experience

CPA/CGA/CA Designation or nearing completion

4+ years of progressive experience in a similar role (industry or public practice)

Strong experience in working in a Global multi-entity environment is an asset

Solid experience with ERP system (PowerBI, SAP and Microsoft Dynamics (Navision) - desirable
