Boundless Life seeks a Senior Full Stack Developer to build and scale our digital ecosystem for families living, learning, and exploring worldwide. You’ll own features end-to-end, craft intuitive interfaces, and deliver reliable backend services across admissions, bookings, and community tools.

You’ll work with Product, Engineering, and stakeholders to balance speed with code quality, embracing AI-powered development and modern engineering practices to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

5+ years of professional software development experience in payments, e-commerce, CRM or booking systems.
Strong proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, Hotwire, React with modern frontend architecture.
Backend experience with Ruby on Rails and/or Node.js.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain scalable customer-facing and internal systems.

The role

As a Senior Full Stack Developer at Boundless Life, your mission is to build the technology that powers a seamless experience for families living, learning and exploring the world.

You will play a key role in developing and scaling our digital ecosystem, from our admissions and booking platforms to our family community app and internal operational tools.

We’re looking for a hands-on engineer who combines strong technical expertise with a product mindset, takes ownership of complex challenges and cares deeply about the quality, reliability and maintainability of what they build.

You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering and business stakeholders to turn complex operational needs into intuitive, scalable solutions that create real value for families and our teams.

A key part of the role will be balancing speed of delivery with engineering excellence — helping us move fast without compromising code quality, system reliability or long‑term scalability.

We’re also looking for someone who embraces AI‑powered development, modern engineering practices and continuous improvement to help us build smarter and more efficiently.

Key responsibilities will include

1. Full Stack Product Development

Design, develop and maintain scalable applications across our customer‑facing platforms and internal operational systems.
Own features end‑to‑end, from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment and production monitoring.
Build intuitive, responsive and performant user interfaces that deliver a premium customer experience.
Develop reliable backend services, APIs, integrations and data models that support complex business workflows.
Collaborate closely with Product and Design to translate business requirements into practical, elegant technical solutions.
Proactively identify opportunities to simplify functionality, improve user experiences and reduce technical complexity.

2. Software Architecture & Engineering Excellence

Contribute to architectural decisions that ensure our technology remains scalable, secure and maintainable as Boundless grows.
Write clean, modular, well‑tested and reusable code, following modern software engineering principles.
Identify and eliminate technical debt, duplicated logic, performance bottlenecks and fragile implementations.
Champion engineering best practices, including separation of concerns, automated testing, documentation and code reviews.
Design robust workflows that account for edge cases, failures, data consistency and transactional integrity.
Ensure critical business operations, particularly payments, bookings and customer data, are implemented with strong reliability and error‑handling standards.
Participate in technical design discussions and challenge approaches that introduce unnecessary complexity or long‑term maintenance risks.

3. Platform Reliability, Security & Performance

Take ownership of the stability, performance and reliability of the systems you develop.
Implement appropriate monitoring, logging and error‑handling mechanisms to identify and resolve issues proactively.
Investigate production incidents, identify root causes and implement sustainable fixes rather than temporary workarounds.
Optimize database queries, API performance and application responsiveness.
Apply security best practices across authentication, authorization, data protection and third‑party integrations.
Build resilient integrations with external services, including payment providers, communication platforms and other business‑critical systems.
Ensure changes are deployed safely, with appropriate testing, rollback strategies and consideration for existing users and workflows.

4. AI-Powered Development & Continuous Improvement

Actively leverage AI‑assisted development tools to accelerate implementation, debugging, testing and code quality.
Explore opportunities to use AI and automation to improve development workflows and engineering productivity.
Apply sound engineering judgment when using AI‑generated code, ensuring all implementations meet our quality, security and maintainability standards.
Contribute to improving development processes, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and deployment practices.
Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend practical improvements that deliver measurable value.
Help establish an engineering culture that combines modern tooling, rapid experimentation and disciplined execution.

5. Technical Collaboration & Leadership

Collaborate with Product to understand the business context behind requirements and help shape effective technical solutions.
Take ownership of technical decisions within your scope, clearly communicating trade‑offs, risks and dependencies.
Provide thoughtful, constructive code reviews that improve quality and help other developers grow.
Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to raising engineering standards across the team.
Break down complex initiatives into manageable deliverables with realistic estimates and clear technical requirements.
Communicate progress, blockers and technical risks proactively.
Demonstrate accountability for outcomes, taking responsibility not just for delivering code but for ensuring it works reliably in production.

What we’re looking for

Technical experience

5+ years of professional software development experience, with significant experience building and maintaining payment systems, e-commerce, CRM or booking systems
Strong proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, Hotwire, React including modern frontend architecture, state management, performance optimization.
Strong backend development experience, ideally with Ruby on Rails and/or Node.js.
Solid understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, indexing and transactional integrity.
Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and third‑party services.
Experience with cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, monitoring and production troubleshooting.
Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, automated testing and secure development practices.
Experience working with payment systems, complex transactional workflows or business‑critical applications is a strong advantage.
Practical experience using AI coding assistants and integrating them into professional development workflows.
