Job summary

Sun Life is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack to join the SAFT squad working on Suncentral and Advisor Hub. You will design, build, and ship full-stack features, write testable code, and collaborate with a cross-functional team in a hybrid setup.

You’ll contribute to modernizing legacy components, participate in agile ceremonies, and support colleagues through code reviews. Travel between Toronto and Waterloo may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive full-stack development experience.
• Strong backend development with Java and Spring.
• Frontend development with React and TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship full-stack features on Suncentral and Advisor Hub - taking stories from refinement through to production with confidence
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code that integrates reliably with existing back-end services and front-end surfaces
• Contribute to technical discussions alongside the Tech Lead - sharing your perspective on approach, trade-offs, and implementation options
• Modernize legacy application components by replacing outdated patterns with current, maintainable solutions
• Collaborate with Agile team members to estimate work, flag risks early, and deliver within sprint commitments
• Apply analytical thinking to understand the downstream impact of your changes on infrastructure and system behaviour
• Occasionally support less experienced team members through code review feedback and informal pairing - as capacity allows
• Participate fully in agile ceremonies and contribute to a high-functioning, continuously improving team
• Occasional travel between Sun Life locations (Toronto, Waterloo) may be required
