Job summary

RBC seeks a Senior Full Stack Developer to design, develop, and maintain PayEdge’s secure, high‑performing digital payments platform. You’ll contribute across the SDLC, writing front‑end and back‑end code (PHP/Angular, PHP/Spring Boot) and modernizing legacy systems.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in PHP, Laravel, Angular, Java, REST APIs, Spring, and full‑stack experience with RDBMS and NoSQL. You’ll work in an Agile team with on‑call production support and CI/CD pipeline responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience with PHP, Laravel and SQL.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with Angular, Java, REST APIs/Microservices, and Spring Framework (MVC, Security, JPA, Spring Boot).
• 5+ years of experience working with RDBMS, e.g. MySQL, MSSQL, NoSQL, e.g. MongoDB, ELK and data streaming technologies (Kafka).
• 5+ years of experience with front‑end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub, Vault, Security scanning tools, etc.).
• Ability to work in an Agile environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on clean coding practices and scalability.
• Good communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Be part of an Agile development team to develop new services and enhance PayEdge client-facing applications.
• Write clean, maintainable code for front-end (PHP/Angular) and back-end (PHP/Spring Boot).
• Modernize and refactor legacy systems to current technologies and best practices.
• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve production issues to drive stability and performance.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain MySQL databases and complex queries.
• Provide production support and participate in on-call rotation.

What will you do?

• Be part of an Agile development team comprised of technical, product and business members to develop new services and enhance PayEdge client-facing applications following the best practices and using the latest technologies.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code for front-end (PHP/Angular) and back-end (PHP/Spring Boot) applications. Ensure high code quality through automated unit and functional testing
• Modernize and refactor legacy systems to align with current technologies and architectural best practices
• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve production issues while driving application stability and performance through proactive enhancements and optimizations
• Develop, optimize, and maintain MySQL databases, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and ensuring data integrity
• Debug production performance issues across services and levels of the stack and provide primary operational support
• Automate processes within the development pipeline; identify opportunities for efficiency gains and reducing time-to-market and enabling continuous delivery
• Perform production support role, including off-hours support (participating in an on-call rotation)

What Do You Need to Succeed?

Must haves:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience with PHP, Laravel and SQL
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with Angular, Java, REST APIs/Microservices, and Spring Framework (MVC, Security, JPA, Spring Boot)
• 5+ years of experience working with RDBMS, e.g. MySQL, MSSQL, NoSQL, e.g. MongoDB, ELK and data streaming technologies (Kafka)
• 5+ years of experience with front‑end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub, Vault, Security scanning tools, etc.)
• Ability to work in an Agile environment
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on clean coding practices and scalability
• Good communication and collaboration abilities.
• A passion for technology and a love of software development culture

Nice to haves:

• Familiarity with major architectural styles, such as Microservices, React or Event‑driven systems
• Knowledge of modern front‑end design trends and technologies
• Strong knowledge of Microservices architecture and API integration
• Deep understanding of API gateway and security protocols (JWT, OAuth, SSL Certificates)
• Experience of developing and troubleshooting distributed cloud applications (Azure AKS)
• Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and testing automation tool
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and the ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
