Svitla Systems Inc. is seeking a Senior Front End Developer with Matrix expertise for a full-time remote position in Canada or the USA. Our client is a digital identity platform that empowers individuals to securely own and manage their personal information online. The platform enables creation of a portable digital identity, eliminating the need for multiple usernames and passwords, and allows verifications from trusted entities to authenticate identity, enhancing trust and security. It also offers encrypted messaging and document sharing, and includes a digital wallet for managing digital assets and currencies.

The project involves building a next-generation digital identity platform, with a focus on rebuilding their messaging system using the Matrix protocol—an open, secure, and decentralized standard for real-time communication. The role requires a Principal Engineer to lead the front-end development of the messaging experience, implementing Matrix client-side features, enhancing usability, and supporting future features across web and mobile.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience with the Matrix protocol.
• Deep knowledge of Matrix client-server APIs and encryption mechanisms.
• Strong frontend development skills with frameworks like React, React Native, or equivalent.
• Proven UI/UX sensibility and ability to create polished user interfaces.
