The role

As the first Senior Front-end Engineer, you will partner with the team to build and maintain Boreal, our Moose Hosting service, and our marketing properties. You should be comfortable working on some NodeJS TypeScript backend (NextJS). Being an early-stage company, you will have opportunities to work across the entire stack.

Engineering is a team sport; the best solutions arise from collaboration. I will challenge your designs, help hone your skills, expect you to ship code frequently, and support you in mentoring junior engineers as the team expands.

You will collaborate closely with product and design teams during this growth phase. While current team members are generalists contributing to the front end, your leadership will be key in shaping our front-end architecture, establishing best practices, and implementing componentization. Responsibilities:

• Build, maintain, and operate the web properties of Fiveonefour, including Boreal, with Node backends
• Lead the architecture and structure of our front-end codebases
• Review and contribute to other engineers' designs and code
• Collaborate with Product and Design to bring web products to life
• Participate in recruitment processes
• Mentor junior team members
• Represent the company at industry events and conferences

Qualifications:

Must haves:

• Strong architectural and design skills
• Proficiency in Typescript and Tailwind
• Experience with NextJS
• Attention to detail and ability to create pixel-perfect UIs
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
• Comfort operating in ambiguity, building systems, and making sense of chaos

Nice to haves:

• Rust experience
• Data engineering exposure through previous projects or hands-on experience
