Job summary

Lyft is seeking a Senior Software Engineer on the Foundational Infrastructure & Networking team in Toronto. You will own core routing, service mesh, and control planes that power hundreds of microservices processing millions of rides daily.

This IC role emphasizes architecture, performance optimization, and mentorship across the broader Infrastructure org, with hands-on production debugging, incident reviews, and observability work.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of production systems experience.
• Expertise in cloud networking and protocols (Linux networking, DNS, TCP/IP, gRPC, HTTP/2, AWS networking).
• Service mesh and proxy expertise (Envoy/Istio/Cilium/Nginx).
• Cloud and container infrastructure with Kubernetes across public clouds (AWS/GCP).
• Distributed systems troubleshooting in high-throughput environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect and scale core networking, including service mesh and edge routing on AWS.
• Optimize high-throughput control planes, load balancing, service discovery, and dynamic scaling with Kubernetes.
• Drive systems reliability and observability with telemetry and distributed tracing.
• Hands-on production debugging across cross-stack incidents (kernel, VPC, DNS, microservice protocols).
• Provide technical leadership, RFC reviews, and mentoring to engineers across Infrastructure.
