Job summary

CPA Ontario seeks a Senior Investigator (Forensic Accountant) to lead complex investigations for the Professional Conduct Committee. Appointed to guide investigations, you’ll mentor staff, develop strategies, and coordinate with experts in enforcement matters.

You will prepare evidentiary briefs, provide litigation support, and deliver training. A CPA in good standing with MFAcc/DIFA or equivalent is required, with 10+ years of forensic accounting experience.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation in good standing with MFAcc/DIFA or equivalent.
  • 10+ years progressive forensic accounting and investigative experience.
  • Experience conducting investigative interviews and providing expert testimony.
  • Strong understanding of public accounting practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex investigations into member complaints, including evidence gathering, witness interviews, investigative planning, and report preparation.
  • Develop investigation strategies, manage case budgets, and collaborate with subject matter experts on specialized and high-profile matters.
  • Prepare evidentiary briefs and investigation reports, presenting findings and recommendations to decision-making committees.
  • Provide litigation support by assisting with allegation development, hearing preparation, and serving as a witness in disciplinary proceedings.
  • Mentor and guide investigators and support staff, fostering investigative excellence in planning, interviewing, issue resolution, and report writing.
  • Supervise, coach, and delegate work to Investigation Specialists and Coordinators to support effective case management and team development.
  • Contribute to departmental projects, strategic initiatives, training programs, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develop and deliver training, presentations, orientation sessions, and resource materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in departmental planning, process enhancements, and cross-functional initiatives to strengthen investigative practices and outcomes.
