Job summary

Matcon Group of Companies seeks a competent Construction Foreman to coordinate operations and oversee workers at our construction sites in Canada. You will be the reference point for workers and supervisors to ensure timely completion of projects with safety first.

You will lead crews on-site, stay on location, plan ahead with PM and supervisors, review drawings and specs, and mentor team members to deliver high-quality results while maintaining accurate site documentation.

Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating construction crews on active sites.
  • Strong safety focus and compliance.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specs.
  • Proven ability to plan and manage field crews.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all crews on assigned site and ensure safe operations.
  • Stay on site; provide leadership and direction to workers.
  • Complete site paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Plan 2–3 weeks ahead with PM, Super, and crew foremen.
  • Know drawings in detail and review specs for compliance.
  • Motivate, train, and mentor crews; delegate and supervise.
  • Complete timesheets on time; maintain detailed notes.
  • Book subs and inspectors as needed; coordinate inspections.

Job description

We are looking for a competent Construction Foreman to coordinate operations and oversee workers at our construction sites. As the point of reference of both workers and supervisors, you will be a key person for the completion of our projects.

Ensure all tasks completed safely. Get crew to believe in and implement safety system.
  • COMMUNICATE; problems, site instructions, stripping depths, observations, incidents.
  • COMPLETE work on budget, on schedule, and to required level of quality (right first time)
Same tasks as crew foremen listed below, plus following:
  • Coordinate all crews/FM on assigned site
  • Stay on site, get out of truck, get out of office as much as possible
  • Complete whatever site paperwork is required
  • Plan ahead with PM, Super, crew foremen 2-3 weeks
  • Know what’s on the drawings in detail
  • Review MMCD drawings and municipal specific specs
  • Ask PM if not sure on contract conditions
  • Motivate, train and mentor crews. Delegate work but check up on it. Write up if required
  • Timesheet completion and in on time. DEWS
  • Daily detailed site specific note taking
  • Book subs ahead of time, including minor subs eg testing, layout, etc. Request assistance if needed
  • Book inspectors
Divide tasks with crew foremen if working on one site. The Senior Foreman generally takes over responsibility for:
  • Truck, gravel, spoil, and material deliveries ordering
  • Should know how much gravel needed
  • Layout, testing, subs, and inspections
  • Assign person to review QC forms if required

Site superintendents oversee the construction process and are responsible for overall construction activities within the established design, budget and scheduling guidelines. This can include planning and scheduling, organizing, directing and controlling activities on the construction site.

Matcon is seeking Labourer's that possess a positive “can do” attitude. It is beneficial for workers to have experience using hand tools, capability to sit or stand for long periods; handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis, and ensure all tasks completed safely. Workers must have the ability and willingness to work in all types of adverse conditions such as extreme weather.

A construction foreman has a solid background in the field. Your leadership skills and your extensive experience have earned you the ability to direct the work of others and make quick decisions. You must be well-organized and favor safety above everything else.

Construction project coordinators plan, organize, and direct the activities of a construction project, under the direction of a general manager. You will work on-site most of the time, looking after the day-to-day responsibilities of the project.

Construction project manager plan, organize, and direct the activities of construction project's, under the direction of a Division Manager. You will be responsible for the large scope of project operations, and building strong relationships with clients.
