Job summary

gategroup Canada is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance leader to ensure compliance with HACCP, ISO 22000 and safety SOPs across the unit. You will manage a small QA team and support overall operations to uphold food safety and quality standards.

You will drive audits, CAPA processes, supplier management, and data-driven improvements, while collaborating with maintenance and sanitation to maintain hygiene and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in food science or related field; knowledge of HACCP & ISO 22000; PHAC regulations.
• Bachelor’s degree in safety, business operations or related field preferred or four years comparable work experience in an operations manager role.

Responsibilities

• Executes and maintains HACCP and Food Safety procedures as defined in the unit HACCP plan and Food Safety Management System.
• Leads QA and food safety activities, including audits, document control, traceability and mock recalls; analyzes data to identify risk trends.
• Leads a production team of up to 8 employees and supports all operational requirements.
• Supports the safety program for all employees and ensures compliance.
• Develops and maintains KPIs related to food safety, quality and labour controls.
• Continuously improves unit procedures for monitoring conformance to specifications.
• Executes internal audits on elements of food safety and leads investigations of product defects and incidents.
• Maintains CAPA system and facilitates corrective/preventive actions with leadership.
• Ensures accuracy and compliance of HACCP records; educates staff in quality and food safety.
• Collaborates with maintenance and sanitation to meet food safety standards.
• Manages outside suppliers and vendors related to QA and food safety; controls expenses and labour costs.
