Job summary

ThoughtStorm Inc. in Dorval, Quebec invites an experienced Aerospace Engineer to lead the development of Flight Control Laws for FBW aircraft. You will design, implement and validate CLaws and related autopilot and navigation features using Matlab, Simulink and C++ in a rigorous DO-178B environment.

The role demands a deep understanding of flight dynamics, control theory for SISO/MIMO, and the ability to work across teams on R&D projects and supplier integrations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's in Aerospace Engineering; PhD preferred.
• 10+ years in Flight Control Laws for FBW aircraft.
• Deep knowledge of aircraft flight dynamics and aerodynamics.
• Experience with classical and modern control techniques for SISO/MIMO.
• Familiar with DO-178B standards, verification and certification.
• Proficient with Matlab and Simulink for modeling and control design.
• Fluent in French and English, written and spoken.
• Team player with ability to work independently and innovate.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve CLaws design and assessment tools using Matlab and C++.
• Support CLaws, autopilot, and navigation design for R&D projects.
• Develop CLaws and systems requirements.
• Perform CLaws V&V for updates and new designs.
• Verify and deliver CLaws per DO-178B and SAE ARP 4754.
• Design and develop pilot-in-the-loop CLaws based on requirements.
• Evaluate CLaws and FBW system failures, stability and performance with analyses and simulations.
• Support integration of CLAWS into test rigs and supplier hardware.
