About the role

As a Senior Firmware Test Engineer at Boston Scientific, you will be an integral part of the Electrophysiology Franchise, helping to ensure the highest standards of quality and reliability for embedded systems in medical devices. You will collaborate closely with firmware developers to design robust test strategies, automate testing processes, and validate firmware. Your expertise in embedded systems, test automation, and problem-solving will drive innovation and help deliver solutions that improve patient outcomes in a highly regulated environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for firmware validation
  • Perform functional, regression, and performance testing on embedded systems
  • Identify, document, and track defects and issues using bug tracking tools
  • Collaborate with firmware developers to understand product requirements and design effective test strategies
  • Automate test processes to improve efficiency and coverage
  • Analyze test results and provide detailed reports to stakeholders
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of testing practices
  • Ensure compliance with Quality System Requirements, demonstrating a commitment to patient safety and product quality

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in firmware testing or a similar role
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ and scripting languages like Python
  • Experience with embedded systems and real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Familiarity with test automation frameworks and tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work experience in the medical devices industry
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART)
  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards for medical devices (e.g., ISO 13485)
  • Experience with version control and issue tracking tools (e.g., Git, JIRA)

Minimum Salary: $79,700

Maximum Salary: $158,200

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com – will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.
