Job summary

CIBC is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst in Technology Finance to deliver financial planning, forecasting, month-end support and decision support to key business partners. You will help leaders understand performance, manage expenses, and assist with planning and reporting activities.

The role reports to the Director, Technology Finance and requires collaboration with Finance and business partners to develop annual plans, forecasts and deliver actionable insights.

Qualifications

  • Experience in financial planning, forecasting, reporting and analysis.
  • Knowledge of banking financial processes is an asset.
  • Strong Excel skills with experience in financial and reporting tools.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Financial Analyst, Technology Finance, you will provide financial planning, analysis, month-end support, and decision support to key business partners within the Technology portfolio. You will help leaders understand financial performance, manage expenses effectively, and support planning and forecasting activities.

Reporting to the Director, Technology Finance, you will work closely with Finance and business partners to develop the annual financial plan and quarterly forecasts, oversee month-end activities, analyze financial results, and deliver reporting and insights to stakeholders. You will also support cross-portfolio initiatives and serve as a key point of contact for finance-related matters within your partner group.

How You’ll Succeed
  • Financial planning and analysis – Support the development of the annual financial plan and quarterly forecasts across direct operating expenses and project-related funding. Deliver analysis and insights that help leaders understand financial performance and planning assumptions. Meet regularly with finance users and business partners to understand key inputs and outputs, assess financial performance, present forecasts and analysis, and provide actionable recommendations. Support month-end close activities, including general ledger analysis, journal entry processing, validation checks, exception management, and stakeholder reporting.
  • Decision support – Analyze operating and financial information to support decision‑making. Partner with team members to validate analysis, identify issues and risks, and recommend timely solutions.
  • Relationship management – Build and maintain strong collaborative partnerships across Technology, Finance, and governance functions to support effective financial outcomes.
  • Financial modelling and technical capability – Apply advanced Excel modelling and financial systems knowledge to improve accuracy, efficiency, and process effectiveness.
  • Executive communication – Prepare materials for an executive audience and communicate key financial messages, insights, and recommendations clearly and effectively.
  • Automation and process improvement – Identify opportunities to improve automation and process efficiency, and support the implementation and communication of process changes, including those related to SAP migration.
Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in financial planning and reporting. You have experience in financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analysis. Knowledge of CIBC or banking financial processes will be considered an asset. In addition, you have strong Excel skills, and experience with financial and reporting tools is an asset, including SAP, Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, GL:DM, Essbase-based platforms, CMR, and OnePlan.
