Job summary

WoodGreen Community Services in Toronto seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Central Services, Finance team. You will partner with program areas to drive financial modelling, analytics and reporting across the organization.

The role balances routine financial reporting with strategic initiatives such as budgeting, forecasting and procurement management, while mentoring junior staff. Hybrid work with remote possibility after orientation is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; CPA designation preferred, or actively pursuing CPA qualification.
• 2+ years of experience in financial reporting, internal/external audit, and/or professional services.
• Intermediate MS Excel skills (financial and data functions).
• Understanding of accounting principles, financial standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency in financial analysis tools and accounting software.
• Hands-on experience with financial analysis tools and accounting software, and willingness to learn new technologies to improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Manage the month-end close, including the recording of journal entries and related tasks.
• Responsible for financial reporting activities, including preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Prepare detailed balance sheet and bank reconciliations, maintaining financial accuracy and transparency.
• Develop and maintain schedules for reserves and provisions, ensuring alignment with policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies in financial reporting.
• Assist in the interim and annual audit by developing schedules, pulling samples, and answering control questions.
• Manage tenant payments and ledgers with housing software program.
• Prepare financial reports and presentations for leadership and board members, conveying key insights and recommendations.
• Drive process improvements in financial reporting and procurement practices, enhancing accuracy and efficiency.
• Assist in the annual budgeting and forecasting process by providing financial insights and data.
• Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering collaboration and results-driven work environment.
