The Work

This opportunity will play a pivotal role within the Financial Planning and Reporting team in one of the fastest growing financial institutions in Canada. The Senior Financial Analyst will use data analytics skills to maintain key financial databases and models to develop scheduled and ad hoc reports that support management decisions. The candidate must be a quick learner with strong communication, analytical, and technical skills.

The Core Responsibilities of the Job:
  1. Maintenance of Financial Data & Systems (35%)
  2. Maintain data flowing from key systems into the Finance databases, including general ledger and financial tools.
  3. Ensure accuracy and completeness of month-end data for reporting; raise issues and implement solutions.
  4. Develop and maintain financial models for management reports, such as mortgage subledger and mortgage continuity.
  5. Run and maintain detailed queries/reports for regulatory reporting; create Power BI visuals for internal use.
  6. Employ advanced data cleansing and analytics skills, utilizing SQL scripts, M, DAX, and understanding programming for automation.
  7. Enhance Financial Analyses and Processes (20%)
  8. Collaborate to define, scope, and implement enhancements to financial models, including budgeting/forecasting tools.
  9. Develop background documentation to improve process efficiencies and risk management.
  10. Proactively improve the technical accuracy, validation, and organization of financial models.
  11. Financial Analysis/Ad hoc Reporting (30%)
  12. Perform flexible ad hoc reporting and analysis, consolidating data from various sources.
  13. Assist in other areas of Accounting and Finance as needed.

Let's Talk About You!

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Computer Science.
  • 4-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong data analysis skills; experience with Power BI, Tableau.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Power products (Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, Power Apps).
  • Proficient in SQL; knowledge of rational database concepts.
  • Programming experience such as VBA, Python.
  • Understanding of finance processes and financial modeling.
  • CFA/CPA is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational skills; ability to multi-task.
  • Enjoys teamwork and individual work environments.
