Senior Financial Analyst (Finance & Reporting) – 1-Year Contract

Location: Downtown Toronto

Our client, a leading hospital in Toronto, is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join their Accounting & Compliance team on a 1-year maternity leave contract. This role is integral in supporting financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, budgeting, and regulatory compliance activities within a high-performing finance department.

• Prepare monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations to support financial accuracy and audit readiness
• Lead/support month-end and quarter-end close processes including journal entries, variance analysis, and reporting
• Assist in the preparation and finalization of financial statements; liaise with external auditors and provide required documentation
• Support provincial consolidation and reporting obligations under healthcare and NFP frameworks
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory timelines
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities related to balance sheet accounts
• Contribute to ad hoc financial analysis and project work within the finance team

Qualifications:

• CPA designation (or equivalent) is required
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial reporting experience, preferably within large or complex organizations
• Strong knowledge of month-end close processes and balance sheet account reconciliation
• Direct experience working with external auditors and responding to regulatory requirements
• Prior experience in the not-for-profit or healthcare sector is a strong asset
• Proficiency in SAP, Adaptiv, or similar ERP/reporting systems
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, PivotTables; macros are a plus)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
