Position Summary

Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Preparation of commercial rental property cash flow projections;
  2. Preparation of progress draw requests and related schedules, and submission to Lenders on a monthly basis;
  3. Preparation of annual commercial rental portfolio summaries and reports;
  4. Preparation of mortgage review requests and associated reporting/analysis to Lenders;
  5. Preparation of annual income tax projections and reconciliation of federal and provincial income tax accounts to interim statements/notice of assessments;
  6. Maintaining corporate tax installment schedules and preparation of monthly installment remittances;
  7. Periodic testing and review of compliance with company internal controls, and documentation thereof;
  8. Participation in various projects and company initiatives including digitization and IT related projects;
  9. Ad hoc analysis and reports as required by the Corporate Controller and CFO;
  10. Ensure and enforce compliance to all company, client and legislated Safety policies and procedures.

Other duties/projects as assigned from time to time.

Key Competencies

  1. Sound knowledge of Accounting Principles (ASPE) as they are applied within the Property Management Industry;
  2. Sound knowledge of financial systems, specifically Yardi Voyager;
  3. Ability to implement and follow processes;
  4. Highly organized;

Education and Experience

  1. University degree;
  2. Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA);
  3. Experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management;
  4. Thorough knowledge of all relevant federal, provincial and municipal reporting requirements;
  5. Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
  6. Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications – Yardi, Microsoft Office.

Health and Safety

  1. Work in compliance with the provisions of the OHSA, regulations, and internal policies and procedures;
  2. Report to his or her supervisor any missing or defective equipment or protective device which could endanger any person;
  3. Report to his or her manager the contravention of the OHSA, regulations, or company H&S policies and procedures or any observed hazard;
  4. Refrain from operating any equipment, machine, device or thing or otherwise working in a manner that may endanger anyone;
  5. Avoid engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct;
  6. Know, understand and implement safe work practices and procedures;
  7. Request that worn out or defective equipment be replaced;
  8. Use all safety devices provided, ensuring optimum condition of devices and report any defects immediately to a supervisor;
  9. Use equipment and materials only in the manner intended;
  10. Report all injuries, incidents, hazards and unusual conditions immediately to supervisor;
  11. Attend all required health and safety training programs (e.g. WHMIS, orientation), and apply knowledge to daily operating procedures;
  12. Follow Standard Operating Procedures as related to your work area.

Working Conditions

  1. Typical office hours: Monday to Friday – 9:00 am – 5:00 pm;
  2. Light to infrequently moderate physical effort. Requires handling of light and moderate weight objects including office equipment and other office supplies and, frequently, sitting for prolonged periods of time while using the telephone and computer.
