Job Description Summary

Treasury FP&A is responsible for decision support, business process re-engineering, evaluating business plans, translating the strategic plan into financial scenarios, and presenting recommendations to Executives, the Board of Governors, Deans, and Department heads. Treasury also supports UBC’s cash management through annual and long-term cash forecasting and liquidity analysis.

The Senior Financial Analyst provides mathematical and financial modelling, detailed financial reports, supporting analysis, and research. The role liaises with key stakeholders across the portfolio to carry out various financial analysis tasks. Flexibility and prioritization are essential due to the variable day-to-day duties.

Responsibilities
  1. Support development of strategic financial plans, business plans, and business cases; provide advisory services on financial and budget issues.
  2. Assess financial viability and impacts of strategic initiatives.
  3. Develop and analyze comprehensive financial reports for senior management.
  4. Research finance issues and report on potential impacts.
  5. Design business analysis and specifications for financial tools.
  6. Engage stakeholders to identify needs, cost reductions, reforms, and improvements.
  7. Work with leaders to develop strategies based on evaluations, risks, and opportunities.
  8. Provide consultation on business process re-engineering and policy analysis.
  9. Support creation and monitoring of key performance indicators.
  10. Perform data analysis and generate financial reports using systems like Workday and Hyperion.
  11. Assist in preparing Board reports and financial projects.
Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, CPA or equivalent designation, and at least five years of related experience or equivalent combination.

  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
