Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join their organization. The role is a hybrid of accounting/reporting and FP&A. Also, the role will require working in office, in East York, 3 days a week. JOB#: 446793

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and prepare monthly financial statements and variance reports; Monitor assigned program operational performance against plan by providing monthly status and year end forecast reports
  • Track progress of assigned projects through budget tracking and variance analysis. Business partnering with various departments within the organization to gain a better understanding of on- going and planned activities
  • Prepare and maintain the capital planning records and funding requests made by various departments. Provide support to programs and services by assisting in navigating financial and non-financial data to improve operational efficiency;
  • Update and maintain cash flow forecasts and portfolio forecasts. Assist with monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes of funds and accounts;
  • Assist in the preparation and review of account reconciliations to ensure quality control and accuracy of accounting records in accordance with ministry Guidelines
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual financial statements, including note disclosures and supporting working papers required for the external audit review; Coordinate the external audit review of the organization accounting systems and records; Ensure accounting policies used are in compliance with internal policies and Guidelines
  • Support preparation of program budgets, regularly monitor and analyze variances and report on strategies to achieve accountability to the overall Strategic Plan; Perform capital project reconciliations and prepare other required ministry submissions
  • Participate in business case preparation and tracking, including providing programs with financial and statistical support and expertise regarding costing of initiatives;
  • Provide strategic problem solving and support to assigned program leaders and business units;
  • Participate in projects involving internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to the following: budget and business intelligence tools implementations, assistance with analysis of various requests for proposal, costing for specific initiatives, etc.

  • Ad hoc assignments as required

Requirements:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CA, CMA, or CGA) designation coupled with a degree in business or relevant program of study.
  • Strong computer skills required in all Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook) with an aptitude for learning new computer applications quickly.
  • Proven working knowledge of SAP is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Smart stream and Cognos would be an asset.
  • Working knowledge of MIS Standards and health ministry reporting requirements preferred.
  • Experience using multiple data sources (financial, statistical, Ministry data, etc.) to develop and prepare complex analysis preferred.
  • 3-5 years of financial analysis and interpretation of results including budget variances experience in a hospital setting.
  • Minimum of 2 years of auditing experience including evaluating controls.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills are required, as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizing and prioritizing workflow to meet deadlines in a high- pressure, time-sensitive environment.
  • Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated effective organizational, leadership, judgment, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Possesses a strong ability to interact with various levels of client groups both internally and externally.
