Job summary

Canadian Tire Financial Services is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst, Intangible Assets Accounting, to support IFRS reporting and accounting for intangibles. You will work with finance and IS teams to provide guidance on capitalization, contracts, and related analyses.

You will lead month-end close activities, analyze variances and KPIs, and deliver actionable insights to senior leadership while mentoring analysts and fostering cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA designation or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong IFRS knowledge and reporting experience.
  • Experience with intangible assets accounting.
  • Excel and financial systems proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual IFRS reporting.
  • Analyze variances, trends, and KPIs; communicate findings to management.
  • Support month-end close; review journals and reconciliations.
  • Provide guidance on capitalization and intangible assets accounting.
  • Coach financial analysts and cross-functional partners.

## Senior Financial AnalystApply: Toronto, ON: Full time: Posted Today: End Date: September 24, 2026 (13 days left to apply): JR164384**What you'll do**The Senior Financial Analyst, Intangible Assets Accounting, plays a key role in supporting the financial reporting and accounting activities of the Canadian Tire family of companies. This position combines deep technical accounting expertise with strong business partnership capabilities to provide guidance on complex accounting matters, support strategic Information Systems initiatives, and ensure compliance with IFRS.The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to finance and business stakeholders, providing accounting guidance on intangible asset capitalization, contract assessments, and support to financial analyst. In addition, this role is responsible for analyzing financial information, investigating transactions, enhancing accounting processes and controls, and delivering meaningful insights to management and senior leadership.* Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in compliance with IFRS.* Analyze significant variances, business trends, and key performance indicators and communicate findings to management.* Support the month-end and quarter-end close processes, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting analysis.* Identify financial reporting risks and proactively recommend solutions.* Provide expert accounting guidance related to the capitalization and ongoing accounting for internally developed and acquired intangible assets.* Provide coaching, guidance, and technical support to financial analysts and cross-functional partners.* Build strong relationships across the organization and foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.* Advise business partners on financial reporting requirements, project financial reporting assistance and non-property lease arrangements.* Research and interpret accounting standards and prepare accounting position papers and technical memos to support conclusions.* Partner closely with Information Systems, Procurement and other business teams to evaluate new initiatives and projects.* Translate complex accounting requirements into practical business solutions while maintaining compliance with corporate policies and accounting standards.* Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.* Lead and support process improvement initiatives involving complex financial models, data analysis, and automation opportunities.* Ensure key controls and documentation are maintained to support internal control and audit requirements.* Review work prepared by other team members and provide constructive feedback to support development and accuracy.**What you bring*** University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.* CPA designation (or equivalent professional accounting qualification) is required.* Minimum 4 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting or a large, complex corporate environment.* Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting requirements.* Proven ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively across multiple functions.* Excellent attention to detail* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships* Strong problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills; able to see the “big picture” in a complex business environment* Natural curiosity to understand the reason behind transactions* Ability to thrive in an environment responsive to changing business requirements* Experience preparing technical accounting analyses and accounting memos.* Experience with accounting for intangible assets, technology investments, software development projects, and contractual arrangements is considered an asset.* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.* Experience with PeopleSoft, HFM, or other large-scale financial systems is considered an asset.* Familiarity with internal and external audit processes is an asset.We’re always looking for great talent! Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements. For critical roles, the compensation offering will be reviewed to ensure alignment with market rate and conditions and the unique value you bring to the role.
