Job summary

Aviva Canada is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst of Finance Business Partnering to join a professional finance partner team. You will report to the Manager, Finance Business Partnering and partner with key stakeholders across Pricing, Reserving, Underwriting and Claims.

The role emphasizes financial performance, forecasting, data-driven storytelling, and process improvements while supporting hybrid work arrangements. CPA candidates are welcomed to apply.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years post-qualification financial analysis experience.
• Independent, with strong communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple initiatives in a structured framework.
• Solid understanding of insurance industry economics and metrics.
• Strong grounding in financial, strategic and performance management processes.
• Proven track record in fast-paced environments.
• Degree in Business (Finance, Economics, Accounting & Finance) or equivalent.
• CPA designation or pursuit considered.

Responsibilities

• Report and prepare financial performance updates for senior leadership reviews.
• Analyze actual vs. plan/forecast results and identify optimization opportunities.
• Develop finance models and forecast scenarios for decision support.
• Lead monthly performance discussions with Commercial SLT.
• Mine and stitch data to tell the financial story with dashboards.
• Partner with accounting to ensure accurate reporting.
• Create standard and ad-hoc reports and automate forecasting tools.
• Work with Pricing, Reserving, Underwriting & Claims stakeholders on analytics.

We are looking for our next Senior Financial Analyst of Finance Business Partnering. This role works within a highly professional and strategically focused business partnering team reporting to the Manager, Finance Business Partnering.

What you’ll do

• Report/prepare on financial performance for senior leadership reviews.

• Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.

• Provide analysis of trends and forecasts and recommend actions for optimization.

• Lead the monthly performance review discussions with Commercial SLT.

• Analyze financial data and create financial models for decision support.

• Data mining/ stitching to help deep dive and tell the financial story.

• Perform financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting.

• Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; study proposed changes in methods and materials.

• Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and Excel dashboards.

• Increase productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools.

• Maintain a strong financial analysis foundation creating forecasts and models.

• Work with key stakeholders across the organization (Pricing, Reserving, Underwriting & Claims etc.).

• Ad Hoc projects/analysis.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; familiarity with data query/data management tools is extremely helpful (Access, SQL, Business Objects).

What you'll bring

• 3 - 5 years post-qualification financial analysis experience.

• This position demands a high level of independence, visibility, and communication. Therefore, effective communication skills are needed.

• Ability to manage multiple initiatives in a structured and controlled framework.

• Demonstrable understanding and strategic perspective on the insurance industry.

• Sound understanding of financial, strategic and performance management processes.

• Proven track record of working in a fast paced environment.

• A degree in Business (Finance, Economics, Accounting & Finance) or equivalent.

• CPA or considering pursuing a CPA.

What you’ll get:

• The salary band for this position ranges from $85,000 – $90,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
