The Ministry of Hospitals and Surgical Health Services is building a more resilient and sustainable health care delivery system that can support Albertans getting care when and where they need it, while responding to system-wide health challenges, improving health outcomes and maintaining fiscal responsibility. The ministry supports Albertans’ health by delivering safe, person-centered, quality emergency and medical health services; procurement and contract management; supporting innovative information management and technologies; and regulating hospital and emergency health care.
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Operations & Assurance, the Senior Financial Analyst, Reporting, Compliance & Systems provides leadership and expertise in financial reporting, government disclosures, compliance, internal controls and financial systems. The position plays a critical role in ensuring the Ministry meets legislative, regulatory, and financial reporting requirements while supporting strong governance, accountability and stewardship of public resources.
The Senior Financial Analyst leads complex reporting and compliance initiatives, supports internal and external audit activities, assesses and strengthens internal control frameworks, and provides strategic advice on financial risks and emerging issues. The role also leads business process and systems improvement initiatives, promotes data integrity and reporting excellence, and collaborates with stakeholders across the Ministry and central agencies to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will combine strong technical accounting and audit expertise with exceptional stakeholder engagement, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Hours of Work – 36.25 hours per week (full time) Monday to Friday.
Term of Employment – Full-Time.
Note: Candidates may be considered on a secondment basis, subject to approval from their home position/department. There may be an opportunity for the appointment to be extended beyond the initial term.
