Job summary

Norsat International Inc. is seeking an accounting professional to manage broader accounting tasks, analyze financial data with Power BI, and support digital transformation projects. This on-site role requires strong ERP experience and the ability to lead in the finance team.

You will work across journal entries, variance analysis, and financial statements, collaborating with auditors and senior management to drive process improvements and robust reporting.

Qualifications

  • Big 4 audit experience or similar industry experience.
  • Experience with inventories and manufacturing accounting.
  • Experience with large ERP systems, preferably Business Central.
  • Advanced Excel skills and Power BI.
  • Strong interpersonal, organization and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with proactive problem solving.
  • Team player and able to initiate corrective action with senior management.
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general accounting tasks including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Use Power BI to review financial results and prepare variance analyses and costing information.
  • Prepare monthly internal reports and external financial statements and schedules.
  • Draft technical accounting memos for IFRS reporting.
  • Lead process improvements and ERP administration with the finance team.
  • Coordinate with auditors and provide necessary information for audits.
  • Implement and assess internal controls.
  • Mentor finance team members and provide leadership in absence.
  • Support special digital transformation projects.

Summary:

The successful candidate is willing to dive into various accounting tasks and operational analysis. You will have a digital background, positive attitude, be comfortable with routine accounting duties as well as extracting and analyzing financial data using Power BI. The candidate will also enjoy stepping in and providing support at all levels, including working on special digital transformation projects.

What You'll Do:
  • General accounting functions including, journal entries and working papers in multiple currencies and reconciliations.
  • Using Power BI to review financial results and prepare variance analysis including tracking project activities and prepare analysis of profit margin and costing information.
  • Preparing both monthly internal financial reports including actual vs. budget analysis and external quarterly and annual financial statements and schedules, including but not limited to consolidated balance sheet, statement of earnings, statement of cashflow, detailed Accounts Receivable/Payable analysis and Operating Expenses analysis.
  • Preparing technical accounting memos to support the Company’s reporting in accordance with IFRS.
  • Championing and engaging the finance team on process improvement and analysis using power BI.
  • Championing the ERP system as administrator and managing any system changes.
  • Coordinating with auditors and providing necessary information for audits.
  • Implementing and assessing the controls within the Company.
  • Assisting the providing financial leadership for, mentoring other finance team members and be seen as a clear leader in their absence.

What You'll Bring:
  • Big 4 audit experience in public practice or similar industry experience
  • Experience with accounting for inventories and manufacturing
  • Experience with large ERP systems, preferably Business Central
  • Advanced Excel skills and Power BI
  • Strong interpersonal, organization and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Team player and able to initiate corrective action in a positive manner
  • A proven leader with excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior management.
  • Can perform under pressure and handle multiple concurrent deadlines and tasks; and
  • Can function in an environment where priorities are subject to change based on various drivers.
