What will you be doing!

  • Acting as the first point of contact for property owners and occupants, addressing questions and concerns promptly or escalating them to the Small-Scale Sites communications team.
  • Attending daily contractor meetings to review construction schedules, raise and resolve stakeholder concerns, and ensure adherence to the communications plan.
  • Explaining construction activities and updates in clear, plain language to stakeholders, providing regular and timely notifications of planned and unplanned work.
  • Engaging in difficult conversations with stakeholders to manage and mitigate complaints effectively.
  • Providing regular updates to in-office staff on stakeholder feedback, highlighting concerns, suggesting solutions, and escalating major issues to management.
  • Attending internal CNL meetings and public events to stay informed and represent the Small-Scale Sites Communications team.
  • Leading investigations into unresolved stakeholder complaints and collaborating with the Complaints Resolution Program staff or escalating as necessary.
  • Modelling diplomatic, tactful, and ethical behaviour in all communications and interactions.
  • Managing time efficiently and coordinating consultations with staff and contractors to optimize resource use.
  • Documenting all stakeholder interactions accurately and filing records according to corporate requirements.
  • Interacting daily with Communications and technical staff through phone, text, and email.
  • Safely operating a CNL fleet vehicle and ensuring its secure condition when not in use.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • University or college degree in communications and/or environmental sciences and/or related field .
  • Experience
    • Minimum five (5) years of pr ogressive and comprehensive work experience in the field .
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel.
    • Valid Ontario “G” driver’s licence.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

    CNL's Historic Waste Program Management Office is in Port Hope, Ontario's beautiful and historic community. Roughly 100 km east of Toronto, it is still close enough to the “Big City” without all the hassle of being in the “Big City.” As a leader in environmental remediation at nuclear and radiologically contaminated sites, CNL is implementing the Port Hope Area Initiative on behalf of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited. The cleanup of historic Low-Level Radioactive Waste by CNL in Port Hope and Port Granby in Ontario demonstrates Canada’s commitment to the safe, long-term storage and management of nuclear waste.
