Job summary

Backwoods Energy Services in Alberta seeks an experienced Superintendent to lead civil and pipeline integrity projects on-site with a hands-on approach. You will direct forepersons, operators, and crews, plan schedules, coordinate labor and equipment, and maintain strong client relationships to deliver safe and high-quality results.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in field construction and 5+ years in senior field leadership, with civil/pipeline experience and the ability to operate field

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of progressive construction experience in field roles into senior leadership.
• Minimum 5 years leading crews as Superintendent, General Foreperson, or similar.
• Significant civil construction and pipeline integrity experience in project environments.
• Strong knowledge of earthworks, excavation, grading, and site logistics.
• Proven ability to plan labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
• Ability to operate equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, and skid steers when required.
• Strong client-facing experience with trusted relationships and issue resolution.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day project execution from mobilization through closeout.
• Develop and drive daily/weekly work plans, schedules, and production targets.
• Direct crews, labourers, subcontractors to maintain safe, productive workflow.
• Monitor progress, adjust plans to meet commitments.
• Identify field challenges early and implement practical solutions.
• Remain hands-on and operate equipment when required.
• Provide leadership to ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Coach field teams and foster accountability and continuous improvement.
• Plan resources and control work based on scope and conditions.
• Support estimating and execution planning with field input and feedback.
• Build strong client relationships and represent Backwoods professionally.
