Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of architectural/engineering theory to provide facility planning
• Knowledge of northern building conditions and practices for project management
• Understanding geographic and cultural factors affecting client needs in capital projects
• Interpersonal skills to negotiate and resolve disputes
• Facilitation skills to coordinate project teams
• Excellent oral and written communication for briefs and reports

Responsibilities

• Provide facility planning advice to GNWT departments and agencies
• Plan and coordinate facility planning studies and briefs
• Describe building character, size and location to meet clients' needs and budgets
• Ensure solutions reflect cultural values and minimize life cycle cost
• Support project teams with negotiation and communication

Education

Bachelor's degree in Architecture

Diploma in Architecture or Interior Design

3 years of relevant experience in planning/design of institutional buildings

7 years of relevant experience in planning/design of institutional buildings
