Job summary

Canadian Red Cross is seeking a Senior Facilitator/Trainer/Instructor to prepare, deliver, and schedule training programs that build knowledge and skills. Qualifications

• Minimum 4–5 years' experience in training or related field.
• 1–2 year post-secondary certificate/diploma or equivalent.
• Lifesaving Society Swim for Life certification OR Canadian Red Cross Certified Instructor or Instructor Trainer.

Title: Senior Facilitator, Indigenous injury Prevention

The Senior Facilitator/Trainer/Instructor is responsible for preparing, delivering, and, when required, scheduling training programs that impart knowledge and develop skills in learners. They create an engaging and safe learning environment, facilitate interactive learning experiences, and support individual and group development in their area of expertise. This role ensures that all training aligns with national standards and meets required quality and safety guidelines.

In this role, you will :

• Contribute to curriculum development by designing, modifying, and updating training materials, lesson plans, and instructional resources to align with learning objectives and participant needs.
• Conduct needs assessments to identify learner requirements and tailor training accordingly.
• Deliver training as scheduled in accordance with CRC policies and procedures, ensuring an engaging and effective learning experience.
• Provide ongoing mentorship, coaching, and engagement to trainees throughout the learning process.
• Evaluate participant performance based on established criteria, providing continuous feedback and ensuring fair and accurate assessments.
• Ensure completion and submission of roster sheets, incident reports, and other required documentation in a timely manner.
• Provide structured feedback on course content and training effectiveness, contributing to continuous program improvements.

What we are looking for :

• Qualifications include a minimum of 4-5 years' experience and a 1-2 year post-secondary certification/diploma and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• May require technical certifications or professional designations and the ability to adapt knowledge and practices to varying situations or equipment. Lifesaving Society Swim for Life certification OR Canadian Red Cross Certified Instructor or Instructor Trainer. Bronze Cross and National Lifeguard are considered an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint, presentation software, learning management systems, and other technology platforms to enhance the learning experience.
• Communication skills, diplomacy and empathy to interpret information and deliver advice, clarify client or stakeholder needs, offer solutions, and resolve escalations in new or somewhat sensitive situations.
• Experience working with a diverse population and an understanding of Indigenous culture and history is an asset.

Working Conditions :

• Occasional requirement to lift very heavy objects (e.g., greater than 20kg) in order to perform the requirements of the role.
• Regular requirement for prolonged standing in a restricted position with infrequent breaks in order to perform the requirements of the role.
• Ability to adapt to changes in work priorities and respond to time sensitive needs.
• Requires sustained focus and engagement to effectively deliver content, respond to participant needs, and adapt instructional methods in real time
• Training may be conducted in various settings, including virtual, office-based, and practical environments.
• Domestic travel to generally safe locations; exposure to moderate adverse conditions requiring attention to personal safety.
