Job summary

• Knowledge of youth engagement practices and understanding of youth development, behaviours, and learning environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint and databases.
• Ability to identify problems, analyze root causes, and apply knowledge to develop solutions.
• Strong communication, diplomacy and empathy to interpret information and address stakeholder needs.

The Senior Program Officer supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of community-based programs and services that address the needs of individuals and communities, particularly youth and young people in remote or underserved regions. This role contributes to the effective delivery of program activities through logistical coordination, stakeholder engagement, and direct service delivery in safe, inclusive, and youth-friendly environments. The Senior Program Officer plays a key role in supporting program monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement, ensuring that activities are contextually relevant, evidence-informed, and aligned with organizational standards and community priorities.

In this role, you will:

• Facilitate educational training and workshops for diverse communities, with a focus on youth audiences, using age-appropriate and engaging approaches.
• Coordinate with program partners, including community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders, to support effective collaboration and program delivery
• Coordinate and support the planning and execution of program strategy and service delivery activities that reflect cultural inclusion, safety, and the creation of child-friendly and youth-centered spaces.
• Provide administrative and technical support for program implementation, including coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, managing and analyzing program documentation to ensure alignment with program parameters, and monitoring program progress
• Collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams to share knowledge, support alignment, and contribute to effective program delivery
• Support the preparation and review of program or project documentation, including reports, success stories, and related materials, ensuring alignment with reporting requirements.

What we are looking for:

• Qualifications include a minimum of 4-5 years experience and a 1-2 year post-secondary certification/diploma in social sciences, community development, international development or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of program delivery practices, community engagement approaches, and basic monitoring and evaluation methods.
• Experience delivering workshops, educational programming, or training to youth and diverse community audiences, including Indigenous communities.
• Experience working with diverse community audiences, including youth and Indigenous communities.
• Knowledge of youth engagement practices and an understanding of youth development, behaviours, and approaches for creating safe and supportive learning environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint and databases.
• Ability to identify, investigate and analyze problems, identify root causes and risks, and apply technical, functional and organizational knowledge to develop solutions.
• Communication skills, diplomacy and empathy to interpret information and deliver advice, clarify client or stakeholder needs, offer solutions, and resolve escalations in new or somewhat sensitive situations.
• Ability to build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with clients, community organizations, and external stakeholders.
• Ability to obtain/provide appropriate clothing for all weather conditions (e.g., winter boots, parka/jacket, rain boots, gloves, etc.).
• Must be First Aid certified or willing to obtain First Aid certification.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
