Job description

Based out of the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) location, the Material Expeditor position is responsible for managing a series of commodities and/or services to ensure requirements are filled in a timely and cost-effective manner. Key duties include expediting shortages, supporting assembly operations, and interfacing with Engineering, Scheduling, Purchasing, Shop, and Manufacturing groups.

  1. Document and track the status of shortages for jobs on the production line.
  2. Collaborate with Purchasing, Shop, and Manufacturing to ensure timely delivery of shortage items.
  3. Maintain accurate scheduling within Oracle throughout production.
  4. Process Engineering Change Orders (ECO), Hold for Disposition (HFD), and lost part requests efficiently.
  5. Complete job closing procedures promptly, ensuring all materials are issued and jobs are closed.
  6. Gather and maintain data for Production Control Metrics.
  7. Participate in weekly production meetings.
  8. Adhere to all safety rules on the shop floor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.

  • Ability to interpret MRP reports, stock status, and customer shortage reports.
  • Proficiency in running queries on Oracle and Excel.
  • Strong prioritization and multitasking skills.

Working Conditions

Work involves hot temperatures and safety-sensitive environments, with occasional outdoor activities. Proper PPE must be worn at all times, including hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, and respirators when necessary. Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, and at heights up to 30 feet is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Maintain body balance and agility to prevent falls.
  • Repetitive bending, reaching, standing, walking, and climbing stairs.
  • Work with arms above shoulders and exert force up to 50 lbs.
  • Use hand tools and power tools for extended periods.
