Job summary

TRS Staffing Solutions (Canada) Inc. is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our client’s growing team in Vancouver. You will develop pricing strategies, review drawings and contracts, and lead bid development for high-value projects in a safety-focused environment.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in heavy civil estimating, proficiency with HeavyBid and Excel, and strong cost-analysis skills. PE designation is a plus; on-site coordination with operations is expected.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil, infrastructure, foundation, or similar construction environments.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs, and contract documents for detailed quantity takeoffs.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid and advanced Excel skills.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is an asset.

This position offers the opportunity to manage challenging and high-profile work while collaborating with experienced teams in a safety-focused, results-driven environment The successful candidate will work closely with operational leadership to develop pricing strategies, assess project opportunities, and support the pursuit of high-value contracts.

Responsibilities

• Develop pricing strategies that balance competitiveness with profitability.
• Maintain historical cost information, productivity benchmarks, and estimating data to support future pursuits.
• Evaluate drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify key project requirements and commercial risks.
• Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence throughout the estimating process.
• Lead bid development activities from opportunity review through final submission.
• Contribute to procurement planning during the pre-construction phase.
• Review completed projects and incorporate lessons learned into estimating processes and best practices.
• Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates for complex projects.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and validate cost assumptions related to labour, equipment, subcontractors, and materials.
• Preform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of estimating experience within heavy civil, infrastructure, foundation, or similar construction environments.
• Strong understanding of construction means and methods, including deep foundations, structural works, waterfront projects, and large-scale infrastructure construction.
• Proficiency with construction estimating software such as HeavyBid and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents while performing detailed quantity takeoffs.
• Comprehensive knowledge of labour productivity, equipment costing, material pricing, subcontractor procurement, and market conditions.
• Demonstrated success leading estimate development for complex competitive bids and negotiated project opportunities.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered an asset.
