Job summary

Hatfield Consultants is seeking an Environmental Specialist or Senior Environmental Specialist to join the IEM group in North Vancouver or New Westminster, BC. You will manage environmental teams on fast‑paced infrastructure projects across Western Canada, coordinating field surveys and regulatory permits to ensure compliance.

You’ll collaborate with project teams and regulators, support budgeting and scheduling, and contribute to proposals and business development.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant environmental discipline (fisheries, ecology, environmental science/studies).
• 5+ years of experience managing environmental aspects of infrastructure development projects.
• Relevant professional certification (e.g., BIT/RPBio, RBTech, AAg, EPt) or ability to obtain is an asset.
• Experience interpreting federal and provincial environmental regulatory and permitting requirements for infrastructure projects.
• Experience working in large, multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience managing environmental disciplines (air quality, noise, water, soils, vegetation, aquatic habitat, contaminated sites).
• Access to a personal vehicle and valid Canadian driver’s license for travel to client sites.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise teams of environmental technicians and specialists on infrastructure projects.
• Oversee resourcing, budgeting, scheduling, reporting, quality management, and client liaison.
• Conduct environmental field surveys to support design and implementation.
• Assist in acquiring environmental permits, licenses, and approvals from regulators.
• Prepare environmental compliance documents (EMPs, protection plans, work plans).
• Collaborate with proponents, regulators, designers, and construction personnel on environmental measures.
• Coordinate field activities, data collection, assessments, monitoring, and reporting.
• Support business development and proposal writing.
