The Opportunity:

WSP has a new opportunity for an Environmental Senior Risk Assessor to join our Remediation team based in British Columbia. This opportunity will allow you to evaluate risk and advise on contaminated sites impacted by hydrocarbons (diesel, gasoline, crude oil, etc.). It is expected that you are self-motivated and will demonstrate strong time management and communication skills.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Design and implementation of human and ecological risk assessments for contaminated sites.
  • Provide technical leadership in human health and ecological risk assessments.
  • Act as a mentor/coach for team members.
  • Participate in client meetings to provide strategic advice.
  • Oversee staff in data management and quantitative risk calculations.
  • Guide and review technical reports for submission to regulatory authorities.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to complete deliverables.
  • Support the growth of the risk assessment practice in BC and nationally.
  • Conduct literature reviews on toxicology, environmental chemistry, and public health.
  • Summarize and interpret datasets, statistical analysis, and prepare reports.
  • Implement quality assurance/quality control measures.

What you'll bring to WSP...

  • University degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in environmental science, toxicology, or chemical engineering.
  • Professional registration as a Registered Professional Biologist or applicable professional body [required].
  • A minimum of 15 years of environmental consulting experience in Canada, with some in British Columbia [required].
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience with the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation [required].
  • Strong client development skills and proven client management experience [required].
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment [required].
  • Excellent technical writing skills [required].
  • Valid Canadian Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record [required].
  • Detail oriented with a strong focus on quality assurance/quality control.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • A positive demeanor towards safety in the workplace.
  • Registered as a BC Contaminated Sites Approved Professional in Risk Assessment [asset].

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $99,500-$124,400

WSP Canada is providing the compensation range that the company believes it will pay for this position based on the successful applicant’s qualifications.
