Qualifications

GFT’s Environmental Team in Toronto is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Environmental Planner to join our growing team in Toronto . This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office.

You will interact with clients, regulators, project managers, and colleagues while working on fast-paced and challenging environmental projects. Working on the roadway team at GFT provides the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and community connectivity. Our team excels in resilient, sustainable design and construction, delivering innovative solutions for modern, multimodal roadway systems.

What You’ll Be Challenged To Do

  • Lead and deliver a variety of EA projects including Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Class EAs, Municipal Engineers Association Class EAs, Transit and Rail Project Assessments, from planning to approval phases.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering design teams to align technical and environmental workstreams during the EA process.
  • Author Environmental Assessment Reports and other regulatory documentation.
  • Manage project teams of environmental and technical disciplines, including subconsultants.
  • Prepare stakeholder engagement plans and conduct consultations with the public, agencies, and Indigenous communities.
  • Develop environmental impact assessments, mitigation strategies, and monitor project schedules and budgets.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal and fee estimate preparations.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management, Planning, Engineering, Urban Planning, or related field; graduate degree considered an asset.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience managing and delivering Environmental Assessments in Ontario.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Ontario environmental legislation and experience with relevant EA processes.
  • Experience with transportation and infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to interpret engineering plans and reports.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Professional designation such as RPP, P.Eng, PMP is an asset.
