This position will be supported by local and central office staff and offers a comprehensive benefits program. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Be aware of any allergies a student may have.
- Establish clear instructional directions to support a positive learning climate, respecting Denesuline culture and language.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate for students' physical, social, and emotional development.
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to all students' needs.
- Plan and organize materials in advance.
- Assess and document student learning daily.
- Monitor and communicate student progress to students and parents.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Patience, flexibility, observance, and passion are essential qualities.
- Strong communication skills, including verbal, nonverbal, active listening, and empathy.
- Understanding of programs and assessments such as Effective Practices, Policies and Guidelines, and Saskatchewan Curriculum.
- Commitment to the provincial Ministry of Education curricula, focusing on holistic child development across social-emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual domains.
- Ability to engage with families, children, and community members to support an equitable and inclusive school environment.
- Effective collaboration with administrators, colleagues, staff, students, parents, and community members.
- Maintain confidentiality of students and professional information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or equivalent.
- Recognized post-secondary Diploma as an English Teacher or related field from a recognized institution (asset).
- Valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate or eligibility.
- Experience teaching First Nations students in remote communities (asset).
- First Aid Certification (asset).
