Job summary

Valero Energy Inc. in Montreal East is seeking a Senior Engineering Support Specialist to manage engineering documentation and support project execution with strong technical expertise.

The role includes maintaining CAD/BIM data, updating equipment databases, ensuring compliance with Valero standards, and assisting the Project Group with 3D models, site surveys, and cross-functional coordination.

Qualifications

• Diploma of College Studies in engineering or related discipline.
• 5–7 years of experience in a related field.
• Knowledge of industrial environment is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office (Access, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Suite (Plant 3D, Vault). SAP familiarity.
• Bilingual in French and English is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Manage the engineering documents database and ensure up-to-date records.
• Support terminal operations and ensure high-quality project documentation across electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and civil disciplines.
• Update equipment numbering and ensure as-built drawings are indexed.
• Validate drawings against Valero standards and maintain the GIS/engineering databases.
• Assist Project Group with new technologies, 3D models, and design reviews.
• Review excavation permits and update CAD drawings as needed.
• Provide technical resources for plan printing and inter-department support.

About the position

The Senior Engineering Support Specialist provides support for project execution by managing engineering documentation and using their technical expertise to support the Engineering Department. The incumbent is also responsible for engineering document management systems, ensuring they remain up to date and continuously improved.

Responsibilities

Management of documents and engineering standards

• Continues building the engineering documents database;
• Uses their expertise to support terminal operations and ensure the delivery of high-quality project documentation in the areas of electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and civil engineering
• Updates the equipment numbering database;
• Ensures that the as-built drawings are received and suitably indexed in the database;
• Validates compliance of drawings and specifications with Valero standards;
• Develops and updates the Logistics Group’s engineering standards database.
• Maintains the GIS database and other engineering database.

Assistance to the Project Group

• Prepares and carries out projects to implement new technologies that can contribute value to the Engineering/Project Group;
• Serves as resource person for the management of models and 3D scans;
• Quality controls documents produced by engineering firms in support of the teams;
• Participates in project design reviews;
• Pays visits to sites to conduct surveys, follows up on the progress of construction and others

Operational Support

• Reviews and approves excavation permits with the Operations Group;
• Does minor updates of CAD drawings;
• Resource person for research and the printing of plans;
• Uses technological resources at their disposal to help various departments with their tasks.

Qualifications

• Diploma of College Studies in engineering in a related discipline
• A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in a related field
• Knowledge of the industrial field is an asset
• Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of software: AUTOCAD, Autodesk Suite (Plant 3D, Autodesk Vault, etc.). SAP
• Bilingualism (French and English) is mandatory
• Excellent communicator
• Priority management and ability to manage several projects at the same time
• Initiative and ability to adapt easily to change.
