Qualifications

• University degree in Electronics, Software, Aerospace or equivalent
• 15+ years in technical engineering, including 10+ years in aeronautics
• 5+ years FPGA/ASIC development and/or embedded software for aerospace
• Thorough knowledge of airborne software/hardware guidance and means of compliance
• Familiarity with DO-178B/C, DO-248B/C, DO-254, DO-330
• Knowledge of DOORS and JAMA requirements capture environments

Responsibilities

• Participate in preliminary and critical system design reviews
• Review and assess supplier's airborne software/hardware certification plans
• Review and assess FPGA/ASIC and embedded software designs for aerospace
• Perform technical and process audits at supplier facilities
• Conduct safety of flight reviews
• Assess software/hardware test results and compliance status
• Lead resolution of safety, compliance or technical deficiencies with suppliers
• Prepare and review design compliance reports
• Contribute to SWEL domain roadmap evolution
• Mentor less experienced professionals

Job description

A client of ours is Hiring for a \"Software and Hardware Senior Engineering Specialist\" Full-Time role in Dorval, QC, CANADA, H4S 1Y9 .Remote role with Travel requirements

In your role, you will review and assess supplier’s airborne software and electronic hardware designs to ensure they meet technical requirements and regulatory requirements. In order to achieve this, you will:

• Participate to preliminary and critical system design reviews
• Review and assess supplier’s airborne software and electronic hardware certification plans
• Review and assess supplier’s airborne software and electronic (FPGA, ASIC, PLD) designs
• Perform technical and process audits at supplier’s facilities
• Perform safety of flight reviews
• Assess software and hardware test results and analyses and determine final compliance status
• Lead the resolution of safety, compliance or technical deficiencies with the suppliers and stakeholders
• Prepare and/or review design compliance reports
• Contribute to evolution of the SWEL (Software and Electronics) domain roadmap
• Mentor less experienced professionals

How to thrive in this role?

• You hold a University engineering degree in Electronics, Software, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
• You have a minimum of 15 years of experience in a technical engineering field, including a minimum of 10 years in aeronautics
• You have a minimum of 5 years of FPGA or ASIC development and / or embedded software development for aerospace applications
• You have thorough working knowledge of airborne software and electronic hardware guidance and Means of Compliances
• RTCA DO-178B/C, DO-248B/C, DO-254, DO-330
• EASA CM-SWCEH-002 (associated with DO-178B) and CM-SWCEH-001
• FAA AC 20-115D and AC 20-152A

• You have knowledge of requirements capture environments (DOORS, JAMA)
• You have working knowledge of multiple programming languages (C, C++, Ada95, Assembly, Python) and multiple hardware description languages
• You have knowledge of embedded computer architectures
• You have knowledge of operating systems and real-time executives
• You have general knowledge in electronics and software programming
• You have experience with civil aircraft and airworthiness authorities
