Job summary

OpTalent is seeking a senior engineering specialist to review and assess supplier airborne software and electronic hardware designs to ensure compliance with DO-178/DO-254 family standards and regulatory requirements.

The role involves design reviews, certification plan assessments, audits at supplier facilities, safety of flight reviews, and leading resolutions of deficiencies, while mentoring junior staff and shaping the SWEL domain roadmap.

Qualifications

• University engineering degree in Electronics, Software, Aerospace or equivalent.
• 15+ years in technical engineering; 10+ years in aeronautics.
• 5+ years FPGA/ASIC development or embedded software for aerospace.
• Knowledge of DO-178B/C, DO-248B/C, DO-254, DO-330 guidance.
• EASA CM-SWCEH-002/001.
• FAA AC 20-115D and AC 20-152A.
• FAA Order 8110.49A/8110.105A.
• DOORS and JAMA experience.
• Proficiency in C, C++, Ada95, Assembly, Python; HDL knowledge.
• Embedded computer architectures and RTOS knowledge.

Responsibilities

In your role, you will review and assess supplier's airborne software and electronic hardware designs to ensure they meet technical requirements and regulatory requirements. In order to achieve this, you will:

How to thrive in this role?

• You hold a University engineering degree in Electronics, Software, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
• You have a minimum of 15 years of experience in a technical engineering field, including a minimum of 10 years in aeronautics
• You have a minimum of 5 years of FPGA or ASIC development and / or embedded software development for aerospace applications
• You have thorough working knowledge of airborne software and electronic hardware guidance and Means of Compliances
  • RTCA DO-178B/C, DO-248B/C, DO-254, DO-330
• EASA CM-SWCEH-002 (associated with DO-178B) and CM-SWCEH-001

• You have knowledge of requirements capture environments (DOORS, JAMA)
• You have working knowledge of multiple programming languages (C, C++, Ada95, Assembly, Python) and multiple hardware description languages
• You have knowledge of embedded computer architectures
• You have knowledge of operating systems and real-time executives
• You have general knowledge in electronics and software programming
• You have experience with civil aircraft and airworthiness authorities
