Job description

Are you looking for a role where you can make a difference? Do you want to help advance progress towards the province's climate action goals as well as Fortis BC's commitment to supporting overall emissions reductions for a lower carbon energy future? If so, we want you on our Engineering Services Team in the 2-year term position of Senior Energy Specialist!

As the successful candidate in this 2-year term position, you will act as a champion for key energy initiatives to support the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) in moving towards a low-carbon energy future in alignment with corporate energy objectives.

Key Responsibilities include:

  1. Carrying out tasks and deliverables of the work plan.
  2. Identifying areas where conservation and energy management can assist in achieving organizational energy objectives.
  3. Supporting the development of policies, programs, and strategies that promote a low-carbon energy future.
  4. Preparing annual and quarterly progress reports for the Director of Engineering and FortisBC.
  5. Supporting community awareness regarding low-carbon energy options, including FortisBC programs.
  6. Completing reporting requirements under the Local Government Climate Action Program (LGCAP) and reporting on organizational GHG emissions annually.
  7. Participating in internal committees such as the Asset Management Committee.
  8. Building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  9. Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years' related experience.
  • Degree in Engineering, Planning, or Business Administration.
  • Registration as a professional engineer or planner preferred.
  • Credentials in Sustainable Energy Management (e.g., CEM, LEED, Change Management, Project Management) are assets.
  • Knowledge of energy management, program implementation, business case development, and local government processes and bylaws.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and a valid B.C. Driver's License.
  • Flexible work hours to meet operational needs.

This is a full-time, 2-year exempt position with potential extension. Salary range is $90,000 - $110,000, paid in the middle for fully qualified applicants. Application deadline is Wednesday, June 25th, 2025.
