Job summary

Ciena is seeking an embedded software engineer in Ottawa to design and develop high-performance C/C++ software for Linux and VxWorks platforms. You will contribute to testing, deployment, and optimization across cross-functional teams.

The role requires 3+ years of embedded experience and a Master’s or Bachelor’s in CS/EE/SE or related field. Strong collaboration with factory and vendor teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance C/C++ software for embedded systems running Linux or VxWorks.
• Implement RTOS and networking functionality to meet performance and reliability requirements.
• Develop modular, scalable software aligned with system requirements.
• Create automated testing scripts and integrate testing into the development lifecycle.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and optimize embedded software for reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with factory teams to test and calibrate new modules.
• Coordinate with peer teams and vendors to align on requirements, defects, and delivery schedules.
