Ciena Corporation seeks an embedded software engineer to design and optimize high-performance C/C++ software for Linux or VxWorks in our Ottawa-area team. You will advance RTOS functionalities, develop modular software, and drive automated testing within the development lifecycle.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in embedded software, strong C/C++ skills, and experience with Linux or VxWorks. A flexible, work-environment and collaboration with factory and vendor teams are emphasized.

Qualifications

Master's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
3+ years of embedded software development experience.
Proficient in C/C++ for embedded Linux or VxWorks.

Responsibilities

Design and develop high-performance C/C++ software for embedded systems on Linux or VxWorks.
Implement RTOS and networking functionality to meet performance and reliability targets.
Develop modular, scalable software aligned with system requirements.
Create automated testing scripts and integrate them into the development lifecycle.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and optimize embedded software for reliability and efficiency.
Collaborate with factory teams for testing and calibration of new modules.
Coordinate with peer teams and vendors on requirements, defects, and delivery.
