Job summary

Ciena Corporation is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer in Canada to design, code, and integrate C/C++ software on Linux and real-time OS. You will work with ASIC/FPGA hardware on SoC platforms and own the full lifecycle from requirements to delivery.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with global teams, and support deployments to ensure smooth integration and customer satisfaction. Strong TCP/IP, Linux, and hardware bring-up skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering or related field.
• 10+ years embedded software engineering experience, preferably in telecom, networking, or datacom.
• 5+ years programming in C/C++ with debugging tools (GDB/Valgrind).
• Experience with Linux kernel and user-space drivers.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, and integrate embedded C/C++ software on Linux and RTOS.
• Develop software interfacing with ASIC/FPGA on SoC platforms.
• Own requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, and delivery.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
• Support field deployments and troubleshoot to ensure customer satisfaction.
