RVA is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for projects related to water/wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, educational, commercial, and institutional buildings, including planning, design, and optimization of systems.
Duties:
- Provide project engineering and technical expertise on industrial power distribution systems (44kV to 120V), including load analysis, hydro supply sizing, substation design, underground duct banks.
- Select and size standby power supplies, including Diesel and Gas generators.
- Design of switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers, and distribution panels.
- Design lighting systems, including fixtures, controls, transformers, and panels.
- Create control schematics for motor starters, VFDs, or soft starters.
- Supervise CAD operators in preparing design drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Conduct power system and power quality studies.
- Perform site visits for electrical data collection and inspections.
- Collaborate with project managers and other disciplines for construction drawings and support.
- Manage electrical engineering projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and client relationships.
- Participate in studies, assessments, modeling, design, cost estimates, specifications, tendering, and contract administration.
- Review and authenticate engineering documents.
- Prepare proposals and reports.
- Liaise with clients, regulatory agencies, utility companies, and contractors.
- Lead and participate in business development initiatives.
- Plan projects, develop scopes, estimates, schedules, and deliverables.
- Mentor and coach project teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 15+ years of industry experience, with at least 10 years in consultancy. Experience in water/wastewater municipal facilities is an asset.
- Valid P.Eng. designation in Ontario.
- Project management (PMP) is an asset.
- Strong relationship-building skills.
- Experience with timelines, budgets, proposals, and client development.
- Proven report-writing skills.
- Knowledge of local standards and permit requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
