Job summary

LAPORTE is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to own projects from concept to completion at Calgary, Edmonton or Lethbridge locations. You will work independently within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to design, studies and client interactions.

The role requires a PE designation, 7+ years in consulting, and ability to travel to sites. Hybrid work arrangement is offered along with comprehensive benefits and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering required.
• Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
• Professional Engineer designation required.
• Experience as Electrical Engineer consultant in agri-food/pharma/food & beverage desired.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.
• Experience leading and managing design projects and studies.
• Good knowledge of electrical utility standards and local/national regulations.

Responsibilities

• Independently model medium and low voltage electrical distribution systems.
• Conduct grounding design and studies.
• Interpret specifications and resolve design issues with minimal supervision.
• Develop and coordinate project specifications.
• Conduct technical research related to electrical systems.
• Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
• Prepare reports from technical studies and analyses.
• Support development of construction cost estimates.
• Review shop drawings for conformance with specs.
• Support client interactions and business development activities.
• Mentor junior EITs and provide training.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary design team.
