Description

This position offers an opportunity to work in a project team environment with engineers and designers involved in the design, modification, and analysis of nuclear power plant electrical systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and reviewing engineering design change packages for equipment installation, replacement, or upgrades to ensure reliability,
  • Performing detailed engineering calculations supporting design changes, including power studies, short circuit, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, and relay settings,
  • Developing procurement specifications for equipment,
  • Participating in vendor bid reviews and evaluations, including responding to vendor inquiries and tracking communications,
  • Creating scoping documents for conceptual designs and conducting constructability reviews,
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary project team members,
  • Communicating with clients and vendors, including site visits and design reviews,
  • Supporting site installation activities and project management to ensure timely and within-budget completion,
  • Managing technical, financial, and administrative aspects of the engineering scope, including scope definition, deliverable review, progress tracking, and issue resolution.
Qualifications

Essential skills and experience include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from a Canadian or U.S. ABET-accredited program,
  • At least five years of experience in electrical system design for industrial applications, preferably in nuclear power plants,
  • Experience in selecting equipment, preparing design change packages, calculations, and specifications,
  • Knowledge of electrical systems including low and medium voltage distribution, transformers, generators, relays, etc.,
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal,
  • Attention to detail,
  • Ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear station.

Valued but not required:

  • P.Eng. license,
  • MSEE degree.
