Job summary

Noramtec Consultants is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for its Vancouver office. You will lead the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building systems from concept through construction, providing technical leadership to junior staff and supporting client relationships.

You will mentor EITs, review drawings and calculations, and work with multidisciplinary teams on complex building projects in commercial, institutional, and healthcare sectors.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of electrical consulting experience.
• Experience with HV substations, power distribution, and lighting calculations.
• Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code, and CSA standards.
• LEED AP, WELL AP, or sustainable building design experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design of building systems and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Prepare engineering calculations, load sizing, voltage drop, short circuits, and duct banks.
• Develop designs using Revit and AutoCAD and review drawings by junior staff.

Job description

Noramtec Consultants is recruiting on behalf of a Canadian building engineering consulting firm for a Senior Electrical Engineer in its Vancouver office. The successful candidate will lead the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building systems from concept through construction, provide technical leadership to junior staff, and support client relationships.

Responsibilities:

• Lead electrical design of building systems, including medium and low voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, communications, and security systems
• Prepare engineering calculations, including load and service sizing, voltage drop, short circuit ratings, duct bank and cabling design, and lighting calculations
• Develop design concepts, engineering reports, specifications, and construction drawings using Revit and AutoCAD
• Coordinate multidisciplinary designs with mechanical, structural, architectural, and civil teams
• Review drawings, specifications, and calculations prepared by junior engineers and designers
• Perform site investigations, existing building assessments, and condition reports
• Coordinate with utility providers, authorities having jurisdiction, contractors, and equipment vendors
• Provide construction administration services, including shop drawing reviews, RFI responses, site reviews, and commissioning support
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
• Mentor junior engineers, designers, and EITs
• Support business development and proposal preparation

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
• 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical consulting engineering on building and infrastructure projects
• Experience designing HV substations (indoor and outdoor), generator systems, system grounding, underground distribution systems, duct banks, and power cabling
• Experience with utility coordination, power system protection and control, fire alarm, and life safety systems
• Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code, and CSA standards
• Experience with commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, or mixed-use projects is an asset
• LEED AP, WELL AP, or sustainable building design experience is an asset
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical engineering software
